| Back to School Deals, Steals & Tips |
It's almost time to go back to school! In most states, including down here in Florida, kids are heading back as early as August 23rd. It’s so crazy how quick the summer flew by. Whether it's kids - big or small - starting back up or adults heading back to further their career, life will soon be getting back to its hectic self. No more lazy days of summer! Depressing, I know. But there’s no need to fret. With just a little planning and the right preparations, you can start the school year off right by saving some money and living stress-free!
- Shop smart. Money is tight for a lot of people still and going back to school definitely means new school supplies. Supplies can start adding up, so always do a little research before you open your wallet. Scope out stores like Walmart, Target, Office Depot and CVS to see if/when they will be having back to school sales. Here is a price comparison of popular supplies and an online coupon and deal resource guide to help you save a little bit more! For an even better deal, why not check out your local dollar store. They have all the supplies you need for just a $1!
- Looking your best! Everyone loves getting something new to wear for the first day of school. I used to love going back to school shopping with my mom. Although I wasn’t getting a completely new wardrobe every August, I was able to get a few things to start the year off. In the majority of the country, states have a weekend in August dedicated to Tax-Free shopping. The tax for any clothing item under $100 will be waived. This can be very helpful to anyone on a budget and is even great for all the people out there without kids who are going back to school. I don’t have any children nor am I heading back to take classes, but you can bet that I’ll be buying some supplies and clothing with that tax-free break! Take advantage if you can, but watch out for the crowds! Be sure to check your local state websites to find out when your Tax-Free weekend begins or click here.
- 30 Minute Meals. As soon as you get back to the grind, finding ways to make family dinners can become quite a challenge. If you work all day, then have to shuttle kids to sport practices, dance or music lessons, when will you have time to make a well balanced and nutritious meal? There are millions of websites (including ours!) that have hundreds and hundreds of 30 minute meal recipes any family would love. Print a bunch out every week and fill up your families bellies with delicious home cooked meals that won’t take too much time out of your busy day.
- Down Time. Don’t forget that it’s very important to make some “me” time available. Whether it be the stresses of sending your kids off to kindergarten or college or just getting back to the hectic lifestyle Fall brings, by just taking 10-20 minutes out of your day to relax or even exercise to clear your head is key.
These tips are great for everyone – kids or no kids. With just a little planning and the right mind set you can conquer back to school like a champ!
Do you have any back to school tips you’d like to add? We’d love to hear them!
