Throw a Summertime Tea Party

Summer is the perfect time to do something fun and different, like throwing a tea party. Just make sure you’re serving iced tea; it has all the same health benefits as hot tea, but will be cool and refreshing for your guests. I like making my own brew at home using green tea because it's packed with disease fighting antioxidants.

Green tea also contains the health-promoting flavonoid EGCG, which is believed to play a huge role in green tea’s anti-cancer and antioxidant effects. It has been extensively researched and has even been shown to protect against death from all causes, especially heart disease and stroke.

Start your tea party with this Green Iced Tea With Ginger and Mint recipe I found. The addition of ginger, mint, honey and lemon juice gives the tea an extra boost of nutritional power. Delicious and healthy!

Serve the iced tea with some light finger foods to nibble on like fresh seasonal fruit, cheese and crackers or for something different try our Fresh Cucumber Avocado Soup or our Smoked Salmon Pizza.

Finally, invite over a few friends and set up a colorful table somewhere you and your guests can be comfortable and relax. What a great way to spend a lazy summer afternoon!
