I’ve spent most of my adult life heavily flirting with vegetarianism. While I do love seafood, most of the time I’d rather have a soy dish or beans vs. any type of meat. So when I saw the new Morningstar Farms frozen entrees, I just had to try them!
Morningstar, along with Amy’s, is one of my favorite vegetarian food makers. I’ve used their Recipe Crumbles for years in place of ground beef.
I tried the Sweet & Sour Chick’n entrée. I’ve always liked their Chick’n products, so I thought this one would be a homerun. The dish is described as: “Tender nuggets of breaded veggie chik'n, pineapple and peppers in a tangy sauce over whole-grain rice”. While I thought the taste wasn’t too bad, I didn’t love it. The sauce was a little overly sweet, which was only compounded by the sweetness of the pineapple and cooked peppers. I think if I’d had some broccoli to add to it there would have been a better flavor balance.
Would I buy this one again? Probably not, but since I generally like their products I’ll be sure to try some others (they also have a lasagna that looks great).

Looks good but I actually can't remember the last time I had a frozen or packaged meal beyond a protein bar on the go.... I am sure if I were SUPER on the go, I might have to search out some stuff but for now, I make my own...
