My Favorite New Snack

If I had to choose between sweet and salty when it comes to snacking, I have to go with salty hands down. Add a crunch to that salty and I’m in heaven. One of my “cheat” foods has always been chips. If there’s a bag of chips in the house I have a REALLY hard time staying away until the bag is empty. Hence the fact that I usually don’t keep chips in the house (hint, hint she says).

That’s why I was so excited when I discovered this new snack. It totally satisfied my salty/crunchy craving and is much healthier than your standard potato chip. I also have to mention that it took me a record breaking 2 weeks to finish the bag because I was actually satisfied after just one serving. I bought them at a gas station when we were on a road trip to Marco Island last month. They are made by a company called Nuts About Florida and I am nuts about them! Are you annoyed yet that I haven’t told you what they are? Good, my plan is working perfectly.

Nestled among piles of nuts and dried fruit I spotted a bag of dry-roasted green peas. I’ve never really even liked peas but these are yum, yum, yummy! You have to give them a try! There is also a wasabi variety that I must get my hands on. I don’t think this particular brand is sold all over the country, but I checked around and it turns out there are a lot of different companies that make these tasty treats. Apparently they are a popular snack in most Southeast-Asian countries.

You can even make your own! Check out this Spicy Roasted Green Pea recipe that I plan on making very soon. I’ll let you know how it turns out. In the meantime, keep an eye out for them and let me know what you think if you have a chance to try them.

What is your favorite snack right now?

Never heard of these. Sounds promising. I've roasted soy nuts and that's not too bad. I do have salt free pretzels for the crunch and like those. I don't like the bitter taste of salt.
