If you’ve read any of my blogs, you might know that I love exercising! I truly enjoy almost all forms of exercise. I exercise almost every day, but I almost never do the same workout two days in a row. I like to change up my workout all the time to keep it fresh so when a new gadget hits the market, I’m always up for trying it.
My latest endeavor is called Beaming (or Beamfit). It’s a workout done on a 5 foot balance beam. There are no Beamfit classes in my area so I actually had to borrow the beam and video from a friend. She is a Pilates instructor and she had said that she loved the workout so I was excited to give it a try.
I picked everything up from her and went directly home to try it. The beam fit perfectly in my living room. I practiced just walking on it at first so I didn't fall on my face! I felt like a gymnast at the Olympics walking on my little beam! Next, I tried the video. At first it seemed very basic but the moves gradually got a little harder. I could feel my muscles being used a little differently. It felt like a blend of Pilates, yoga, toning and a little cardio! Of course, I liked that! I finished the level one video and wished I had taken the other videos too. I did the video a few more times and enjoyed it more each time.
I highly recommend you try beaming if it is offered in your area. If it isn't offered near you, you can check out their website for a video of the workout. The beam costs about $130 and the videos cost about another $20 each. I guess the cost isn't that much since I have seen gyms charging between $10 and $15 for a single beaming class.
Overall, you will get a good workout and you will definitely improve your balance. The workout is great for all ages and really for almost all skill levels. It is great for functional training and you can even make up your own variations of the exercises. I give this new fitness gadget two thumbs up and I think you will like it too!
