Video Review – Turbo Jam

I love going to the gym and exercising. However, I realize some people don’t. I know a lot of people who just don’t enjoy the gym atmosphere. Others claim they just don’t have time to get to the gym. I always tell these people that those are not reasons to avoid exercise. There is always a way to squeeze exercise into your day. Personally, I love exercise videos. You can do them in the privacy of your own home anytime you like. There is no one watching you and you can actually rewind the video to make sure you’re doing it correctly. My new favorite exercise video is Turbo Jam.

Turbo Jam is basically a cardiovascular workout that combines some basic kickboxing and dance moves. It’s led by Chalene Johnson, a certified aerobics instructor. She packs the class full of fun calorie burning moves. I love the music she uses on the video. Many videos have very quiet music that is not too motivating. Turbo Jam uses familiar music that you can really get into. The moves are kept basic but they will really get you sweating and burning fat.

Turbo Jam has five different workouts:
  • The first is “Learn and Burn”. I love that this part is included. It gives you the basic moves of the kickboxing workout broken down in a way that makes them easy to understand.
  • The next is “Cardio Party”. This is the part that really gets your heart pumping. It incorporates the basic moves you learn in “Learn and Burn”. You will love it and you will be burning a ton of calories.
  • There is also a “20 Minute Workout” included that is great when you are short on time. Everyone can fit in 20 minutes a day. You will still get a great workout and burn a lot of calories. After 20 minutes, you will have worked up a great sweat.
  • Also included is “Turbo Sculpt”. This workout is 40 minutes and will have you burning calories with a cardiovascular workout and then toning up with some body sculpting moves. The moves are easy to follow but very effective. It’s a great workout for the days that you have a little extra time to workout.
  • Lastly, you get “Ab Jam”. This is a 20 minute workout that is targeted on the abs only. It really works. I could feel my abs working during the workout. The next day my abs were tired so I know I worked them hard. You can do the “Ab Jam” at your own pace and you can rest anytime you like.
If you purchase all of the videos you can mix them up. You can do a 40 minute video one day, a 20 minute video another day and maybe two 20 minute videos a third day. The variety will keep you interested and will help you get faster results.

When you purchase “Turbo Jam Maximum Results”, it comes with a few other items. You get flashcards that show the kickboxing moves and a guide book with a workout calendar to track your workouts. I found these two items useless for the most part. They are included with the whole package but I didn’t think they were necessary at all. You also get a pair of Turbo Sculpting Gloves which are slightly weighted gloves to wear during your workout. I liked these and I usually use them during the workouts. There is also another video included called, “Punch, Kick and Jam”. I like this video too. Lastly, you get “Turbo Slim” which includes a meal plan to help you lose weight. The meal plan is fine but doesn’t offer much variety and is nothing that you couldn’t download for free from the internet. Don’t purchase the package just for the meal plan.

I definitely recommend Turbo Jam for those people who like to work out at home. It’s a fun, motivating workout that will give you results. You can find more information on the workout at beachbody.com. If you don’t want to purchase the whole package, you can always check EBay or Craigslist to see if anyone might be selling them. Either way, I like this video series a lot and I think it is worth the investment if you are going to use it!

I LOVE Turbo Jam! I started doing it 3 or 4 years ago and have never gotten tired of it. My favorite is the 20 minute workout. It's perfect to do when you are short on time and really gets your heart pumping so you still burn a good amount of calories. Like Jennifer I also like the music and fun upbeat vibe. If you like to workout at home I highly suggest you add some of these videos to your collection.
