| Eunice’s Cardio Playlist |
Like I mentioned in my last post, exercising with music is a must for me. As much as I enjoy the sound of grunting muscle guys and the one techno song that they repeat all day at the gym, I like to have my own music to motivate me. For strength training, I just throw a bunch of music I like onto my MP3 player and hit shuffle. But if I’m doing cardio, my Luther Vandross jams aren’t exactly appropriate. (Yes, I listen to 90’s R&B. Don’t judge!)
So, for cardio days I like to use a playlist. My playlists usually consist of hip-hop, pop and the occasional rock song. Creating your own playlist is a matter of trial and error. Make a list of your favorite songs, add them to your MP3 player and try them out the next time you work out. You’ll find that some songs work better than others or you may have to change their position in your list based on your routine. If you’re having a hard time coming up with music for your playlist, feel free to borrow some of mine:
- My Way by Usher to get things started right. Also, this is one of my favorite Usher videos.
- Memories by David Guetta feat. Kid Cudi. I like running to this one. Anything by Kid Cudi is also great for strength training.
- Blah Blah Blah by Ke$ha. This is a good elliptical song.
- Rompe by Daddy Yankee. Nobody hated the reggaeton era more than I did, but this song will get me on the dance floor no matter how sober I am. Also, good for spinning.
- Whatever U Want by Consequence feat. Kanye West and John Legend. Kanye is featured on all my playlists! Love running to this one.
- Telephone by Lady Gaga feat. Beyonce. Fierce. And elliptical worthy.
- Wait by Chris Brown. Awesome for running!
- The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson. Classic! High resistance spinning song.
- Shawty Get Loose by Lil’ Mama feat. T-Pain and Chris Brown. I still love this song! Put this one on when you think you’re too tired to go on.
- Pronto by Snoop Dogg feat. Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em. The Doggfather’s songs usually have a slower vibe, but Soulja Boy boosts the cardio value with his verses.
- Drop It Low by Ester Dean feat. Chris Brown. Trying to follow the steps in this video is a cardio workout all on its own.
- Breathe by Taylor Swift. Yes, I like Taylor Swift. Use this one to cool down.
My preference is for hip-hop, but you can find up-tempo songs in any genre. What songs have you been working out to lately?
- Eunice

Hot playlist...my bf would love it!
I like more of an 80's/classic rock cardio playlist..a little Journey, some Bon Jovi (Runaway is a great cardio song!!), maybe even some Beatles or NKOTB..yes odd mix of songs but those are usually the best playlists-little bit of everything!!
