| If You Can See It, You Can Be It! |
Many people believe that visualization can play a role in reaching their goals. They believe that just by visualizing something, it can happen. Visualization that is used to help reach goals is sometimes called creative visualization. You can visualize yourself not smoking, getting a better job or even becoming wealthy. Through this visualization, you are using your imagination to create an image that is positive to you. You can even visualize yourself losing weight and getting in better shape.
When our thoughts are powerful enough, they are accepted by our subconscious. Therefore, if you can see it, you can be it. If you can see yourself healthier and happier, you may start behaving in a way that will make you healthier and happier. Your actions may change to help you achieve what you are visualizing.
At this time of year, so many people are trying to lose weight and get healthy. It’s a new year which gives us a new chance at health. Visualization can be a great tool in weight loss. Just start by picturing what you want to look and feel like. That will set your thoughts in motion and therefore your actions may be geared towards losing weight.
You need to actually practice your visualization everyday. Set aside a little time each day. 5 to 10 minutes is enough. Don’t look at a picture of how you would like to look. Instead, picture it in your mind. Concentrate on that image then tell yourself that that is what you already look like. Tell yourself that you already are that image. This may bring you closer to your weight loss goals. Your actions may change to help you achieve that image. How you see yourself plays a large part in weight loss. If you always think of yourself as 20 pounds overweight, it will be difficult to achieve anything else. You will continue to make choices based on that image. You may decide not to exercise, to eat junk food or to continue to drink soda. Instead, visualize yourself at your goal weight and focus on that image.
Next, spend time actually seeing yourself doing the things needed to help you lose weight and get fit. See yourself passing up desserts and making healthy food choices. Picture yourself walking on the treadmill or taking a Pilates class. Always make sure you see yourself happily doing these things. Then see yourself at the weight you want to achieve. These positive images will help you feel better about making changes.
Lastly, visualize yourself succeeding and make sure others can see you succeeding too. Let the people close to you know that you are visualizing what you want to become. Don’t let them think negatively about your goals. Ask them for their positive energy. Do not listen to anyone who says you can’t achieve your goal.
The key to visualization is consistency. Practice your visualization for a few minutes each day. Sit, relax and visualize. You will still have to eat right and exercise to achieve your goals but through positive visualization, hopefully you will be more inclined to make those healthy choices. Hopefully, you will find yourself enjoying making healthy food choices and exercising. Visualization could be just the thing to help you reach your weight and fitness goals this year. It certainly can’t hurt to stop, relax and feel positive about yourself for a few minutes each day. Remember, if you can see it, you can be it!
