While flipping through a magazine today I saw a new advertisement for McCormick spices. It must be their latest ad campaign and it’s brilliant! They are finally letting the world know that spices are a concentrated source of antioxidants. The advertisement is simple but catchy. They have a website called Spices for Health where they’ve created a collection of new recipes designed to supply ½ teaspoon of antioxidant rich “Super Spices” per serving. And on top of that they promote my wonderful Mediterranean diet. I am so happy I’m not alone anymore, and that someone with a much louder voice than me is telling the world about the benefits of herbs and spices as part of the Mediterranean diet.
Their 7 “Super Spices” include cinnamon, ginger, oregano, red peppers, rosemary, thyme and yellow curry. Please visit their website. They provide a lot of great information about herbs and spices and have nice recipes too. Check the “How Old Are Your Spices?" page where people post comments after they checked how old their spices are; pretty interesting.
So again, play with your food and try different herbs and spices. Make sure to add some to everything you eat and drink. It’s cheap, tasty and the best way to include super nutrients to your diet and your family’s diet. Add some spices and color to your plate.
