Over the last few days I've been eating fewer simple carbohydrates (but more fruits and veggies, just not bread or junk food) and more protein. I've also been walking for exercise. How long before I should start losing weight?
Everybody is different and weight loss will vary depending on how much your new way of eating differs from your old diet. You may also lose a lot of water weight at first if you ate a lot of processed or salty foods. If you don’t see a difference on the scale during the first week, you may see your weight drop 3-4 pounds all at once. But you must stay on track even if you don’t see results right away as it may take longer than expected.
It’s wonderful that you started walking! I don’t know how much you exercised before, but all efforts add up. I suggest you add one minute every time you go for your walk. If you can’t increase the time, increase the speed or the incline at which you walk (try walking up a hill or a stair case to increase the intensity).
It’s also great that you are including more fruits and vegetables. Just make sure you avoid fruit juice and be careful with dried fruits as they are a concentrated source of calories and nutrients. Make sure to include plenty of water and don’t eat 3 hours before bed time. Good luck and stay on track. Don’t look back; keep your eyes on the ball!
