Now, we know none of “our readers” eat this stuff, but we felt the need to pass on the news about a recent food recall by Nestle…just in case. Nestle has voluntarily recalled all of its refrigerated cookie dough products after a number of people got sick from eating the raw dough. The FDA and CDC are “warning consumers not to eat ANY varieties of prepackaged Nestle Toll House refrigerated cookie dough due to the risk of contamination with E. coli”. They urge consumers to throw away any prepackaged cookie dough that has already been purchased. Cooking the dough is not a good idea either because you may get the bacteria on your hands or other cooking surfaces.
If you have any questions or concerns you should call Nestle consumer services at 1 (800) 559 – 5025 or visit their website. Click here to see a list of all recalled products.
As always, we urge you to continue using safe food handling practices including proper washing, storage and cooking. Read our blog on Safe Produce or check out Fightbac.org for more information on safe food handling.
