Those Shoes Cost How Much?

As an avid exerciser, I don’t mind paying a little more for good quality sneakers. However, I have to draw the line at $125. That’s right; they raised the price of my favorite workout sneakers to $125. That is way too much. I do love those sneakers, but I decided to spend the time to look for a more reasonably priced pair and of course I found one. I wore them this morning and I love them!

Sneakers are an important part of your workout gear. You need the right shoe for your activities and your activity level. If your feet or knees hurt during your activity, you might need different shoes. There are so many different companies to choose from and so many different types of sneakers available, that sometimes it’s difficult to know which pair to choose. There are some key things that you should look for when trying on and purchasing shoes for your workout. Don’t assume that the high price tag means that they’re the best shoes for you.

First of all, don’t decide on looks alone. It’s nice to have an attractive pair of sneakers, but support and stabilization are more important during your workout. Base your choice on what types of activities you do. If you run, buy running shoes. If you do aerobics, try aerobic shoes. If you do classes and weight train, try a cross trainer. Cross training shoes are a great idea when you do a bunch of different activities.

Secondly, check out the material that the shoes are made of. Look for something made of natural leather. Leather will be supportive and can handle more stress than other materials. It also lets your feet breathe.

Next, check the flexibility. Your sneaker should be flexible. It should let your foot bend and move. Bend the sneaker in your hands and make sure it’s nice and flexible. If you give the shoe a poke at the toes, it should gently rock back and forth.

Another important point is to check that the shoe matches your foot. If you have a wide foot, look for a wide shoe. If you have a high arch, you will probably be comfortable in a shoe with a high arch. If you have flat feet, look for a shoe with less of an arch. If you get sneakers that don’t match the shape of your foot, it could result in foot, ankle and knee pain.

Lastly, buy the right size. Your feet may change as you age. Always have a salesperson help you check your shoe size. If you are off by even ½ a size, it will make a big difference. The shoe will be too loose or too tight and will result in pain or blisters.

Remember that your sneakers are a very important part of your workout equipment. When shopping for them, always wear the socks you will work out in and always try on both shoes. Walk around, jump up and down, do whatever you need to do to see if they are the right fit. I am confident that you too can find the right shoe at the right price.

So important to get the right shoe AND to try it on first!!! They should let you walk/run/jump in them too before you buy.

I have wide, flat & bunion feet so I don't have a lot of choices that feet me especially with a wide forefoot & very narrow heels. And as I get older, the feet get worse! I never choose for looks. It is all about fit & that is most important. Also, if you exercise a lot, be sure to replace your shoes regularly & as needed!

Thanks for the info! I have to buy a new pair of sneakers every year because they get worn out so easily. That's why I never try to spend more than $60 on sneakers.

I agree, sneakers have gotten so expensive! I never buy them until they are on sale. The shoes in your pic look so fun!
