People get hung up on everything they do wrong when they diet. Every extra morsel they eat becomes cause for a self inflicted beat-down and confirmation that they are a ‘failure in their diet’.
I propose a change. Let’s celebrate what you DIDN’T do.
I went to a meeting last night. Someone brought donuts, dozens of them. There they sat, looking all glistening and beautiful with chocolate, nuts, frosting, filling and glaze. They called to me. They promised how delicious they would be, and how fulfilled I’d feel with every savory bite. They said I wouldn’t regret it (they’ve lied to me before).
You know what I did? I DIDN’T eat one! I think that’s cause for celebration!
I was tired, had raced home from a long day at work, wolfed down a quick healthy bite, and rushed off to what I knew would be a long and boring meeting. Certainly I deserved that donut. I was tired, had to give up my evening, and had to listen to too many people go on and on about too many things…poor me.
Yet I persevered. You know what? Once I put my mind to it, it really wasn’t that hard. I think that’s cause for celebration.
We often forget to celebrate these small victories over temptation. Each time you walk by the candy dish, close the freezer without grabbing the ice cream for ‘just a taste’, or pass on that second helping…you deserve a pat on the back!
Celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Stop focusing on what you did wrong or the negative, and start focusing on the positive. I bet you’ll find you do more things right than you realize.
So…What DIDN’T you do today?

Good for you. I wish I was better at work with the whole sweets will power thing..but I did get my workout in early this morning before work so that should count for something right? Great job on the self control.
