The Swine Flu has consumed the world this past week, so I figured I’d try and squash all the snorts and grunts with some helpful information from our Sensei health experts about boosting your immune system and fighting the flu and illness.
Since flu shots aren’t 100% effective, you should try to protect yourself any way you can. Try incorporating some good flu fighting foods in your diet like Vitamin C, Beta-carotene, Lean Meats & Fish, Garlic, Carbohydrates, and Green Tea. To learn more check out our Fighting the Flu with Food post.
Antioxidants are also extremely helpful in boosting your immune system and fighting off ailments. Eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables (like broccoli, tomatoes, blueberries and apples) can help protect your body from illness. If you want to know more, read Josee’s post on Antioxidant Power.
With the arrival of spring, allergy and cold season is in full effect. To get rid the wheezing, sniffles and mucus (yuck!) continue to eat the right foods and try using a Neti pot. It will help flush out the pollen, dust and fluid from your nose to help relieve cold and sinus pain. For more tips check out Renee’s post on Exercise & Allergies.
And as always, don’t forget to wash your hands, drink lots of water and get plenty of rest. With the right protection and knowledge you can help keep those pesky germs out of your system!

This is very scary indeed and a very important. Living in PA, I am quite nervous since we are not too far from some of the recent outbreaks. Keep washing them hands!
