Another New Fitness Craze!

Have you heard of TRX training? It’s a new fitness craze that has everybody talking. People are always looking for the next best workout or the workout that will get them in the best shape. TRX may just be that workout.

TRX training is also known as suspension training. TRX® Suspension Training® harnesses your own bodyweight to create resistance as you train. That’s all you need, the TRX and your own body! No additional weight required. It may sound easy or gimmicky, but this workout actually works. I recently took a class near my home in Florida and boy was I tired afterwards. It was a TOTAL body workout to say the least

According to their website, TRX is appropriate for everyone. The manufacturer states that TRX allows you to instantly adjust to the level of difficulty. You can also customize your workout at any time. There are over 50 exercises that I personally have seen. You can change exercises in a very short period of time (usually only 15 seconds) and everyone from at home exercisers to athletes to Navy Seals can do this workout.

TRX can work the entire body. You can also get a killer ab and core workout. A strong core is important to improve posture and prevent injuries. Suspension training builds core strength with every exercise by creating an element of instability that calls on your core to provide balance and coordination. The idea with TRX is that our bodies don’t move in one direction all day. They move side to side, front to back, up and down, etc. TRX helps you workout that way too. The idea is to bring a muscular balance to your body. The workout can be done on its own or in intervals with cardio work such as jumping rope or running on the treadmill to burn maximum calories.

You can buy a home TRX training system from their website. It comes with instructional DVDs and a poster with various exercises. You can also use their website to find a group class near you. If you are in South Florida, try Cutting Edge Fitness in Boca Raton. Some Fitness Centers around the country that offer TRX training include Crunch Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness and some Bally Total Fitness Centers. Give it a try if you want a new and different workout that will give you results. I know I’ll be back in class soon!
