| Valentines Day Single Girl Style |
Last year I gave you a beautiful anti-oxidant packed blue menu for Valentines Day. But this year I have no honey to cook for, and I’m sure I am not the only one. Plus, Valentines Day falls on a Saturday this year, so the restaurants and bars will be packed with “couples”. So for the single girls (and guys too) let’s treat ourselves right. It’s “ME” day!
If the ladies still want to go out, I’m sure the sport’s bars will be packed with single guys, so that could be an option. Otherwise, let’s stay home and maybe get a group of single girls together and treat yourselves as you would love to be treated. Maybe start the day off with a massage or have your nails done, then go out for lunch. Next, go for a relaxing walk in a park or by the beach to enjoy nature and breathing fresh air.
Once home, start preparing a very nice meal including the things you like the most. Please do not order out, that’s not Valentine’s worthy! That’s more Bridget Jones’s diary. We’re not depressed; we are celebrating ourselves and treating our selves special. Enjoy a nice glass of wine while preparing your meal. Try a new recipe; the type you find on magazine covers, or even better, try to imitate your favorite restaurant meal. Set the table with your best china and table settings, play some music, light a candle and enjoy. If you are by yourself, grab a book or a magazine while you are enjoying your nice dinner.
For the rest of the evening, watch a “feel good” movie or a comedy. If you have several friends with you, bring out a fun game like Monopoly, Clue, Twister or the Wii and have a blast!
Here are my favorite movies (maybe pick one you have not seen yet).
Feel good movies:
As Good as It Gets Something’s Gotta Give (also a love story) Bridget Jones’s Diary The Green Mile Finding Nemo Happy Feet Billy Elliott August Rush A Knight’s Tale Little Miss Sunshine The First Wives Club Cocoon Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood Heaven Can Wait Pretty Woman (also a love story) The Secret Garden
Funny movies:
The Mexican Stripes The Rat Race Miss Congeniality Shrek The Breakfast Club
If you really want a love movie, here are my favorites:
Under the Tuscan Sun A Good Year The Thomas Crown Affair (the remake) Indochine Casablanca Sleepless in Seattle The Notebook 50 First Dates Love Actually Like Water for Chocolate (the best love story ever) 2 Weeks Notice Just Like Heaven Ghost Moonstruck Don Juan DeMarco (close first for best love story ever)
Any movie starring Johnny Depp is a good one to watch anytime!
These are my favorites, want to share yours?
Enjoy a wonderful day where you are the most important. It’s all about you! And when people ask you what you’ve done over the week-end, they will be jealous what a great time you had.
Happy Valentine’s Day girls!
