It was confirmed by the FDA last week that the sources of the recent salmonella outbreak “are peanut butter and peanut butter paste produced by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA)”. None of these peanut butter products are sold directly to consumers, but they are used by companies like Keebler and Little Debbie in their products (although these companies have not reported any problems). For that reason many companies are issuing voluntary recalls of their peanut butter containing food products.
For a complete list of recalled products or to search for a product by brand or UPC code click here. The good news is that national brands of jarred peanut butter found at your local supermarket like Jif and Peter Pan have not been linked to the recall. In the meantime, be sure to check at home for any recalled products and stay tuned for further updates.
