We talk all the time here at Sensei about “Coloring Your Plate” and eating heart healthy fats because it’s so important for your health and disease prevention. If eating a variety of nutritious, whole foods is a key element in your healthy eating strategy (and it should be), why not take it a step farther by combining some of these foods to get the maximum nutrition benefit!
For example, did you know that eating a high vitamin C food, like pineapple, along with a high iron food, like pork tenderloin, actually helps your body absorb the iron better? Similarly, having vitamin D present will help the body better absorb calcium; like with vitamin D fortified milk. Here’s to a healthy you in 2009!
