Eat LESS and Exercise MORE

On that fateful day in January when you feel that all hope is lost, and you won’t leave the house again because only your bathrobe still fits, Jane E. Brody writes to the rescue.

"NO GIMMICKS: Eat Less and Exercise More"

  • "If you consume fewer calories than you need to maintain your current weight, you will lose."
  • "Gradually reduce your portion sizes."
  • "Return to your exercise regimen or adopt one."
  • "Gradual weight loss, achieved on an eating-and-exercise regimen THAT YOU CAN SUSTAIN INDEFINATELY, is most likely to be PERMANENT weight loss."
  • "The basics of good nutrition have not changed.”

Repeat this to yourself often. Make it your mantra. It WILL work. Give It A Chance. I’m going to. Of course, I’ll also be wearing a pedometer, walking quickly, taking the stairs, exercising in water, and repeating Jane Brody’s words.
