Starting the New Year with a Clean Slate
I am a strong believer in living harmoniously, as much in relationships as in living environments. My house is set up using the principles of Feng Shui and I personally feel it makes a difference. Feng Shui is the oriental art of placement in living spaces. The ultimate goal of Feng Shui is to use the natural elements of the earth to produce harmony, enhance energy flow and ultimately improve one’s well being. My house has a very peaceful energy and visitors always comment on how relaxed they feel upon entering.

The first thing you must do to improve energy flow is to get rid of clutter! Clutter results from the accumulation of objects; usually non practical and unused. If you haven't used something in the past year, you probably won’t use it in the next year either, so get rid of it! We keep stuff that we don’t use and don’t even like because it was a gift, because it belonged to our grand-mother…because, because, because. The reason doesn’t matter! If you aren’t using it, it’s taking up space and obstructing the energy flow. Your “things” are taking energy from you!

I believe that getting rid of clutter is a great way to start the New Year! De-clutter, clean your house thoroughly and feel the difference. Up north, people wait for “spring cleaning”, but in some Caribbean countries, Vietnam and Japan, they get the house clean to set the tone for the New Year. By cleaning the house, they get rid of the evil spirit (bad energy) before the New Year starts. I’ve been doing this for years now. I always want to start the year fresh and expect that each year will outshine the previous one. Every year my life improves, just like a good French wine.

Our house is a representation of ourselves. What type of energy are you radiating? Think about this for a second.
