Why is it that some people seem to be more successful at losing weight and keeping it off than others? The answer may be in the way they THINK!
We’ve all heard of the power of positive thinking, but this recent theory is a little different. Researchers studied individuals who had successfully maintained a significant weight loss. The lead researcher, a cultural anthropologist, tested thinking styles and found that those whose thinking styles were disciplined, structured, and were "planners" were most successful.
So now some of you are now saying, “Yeah, right, that’s definitely NOT my style!” Fear not, even the most scattered thinkers can train their brains. It takes about 3 weeks and small simple tasks can do the trick:
- Organize: (anything) papers on your desk, a kitchen cabinet, the kitchen junk drawer
- Be on time: keep a schedule and stick to it
- Create a plan: for the next week
- Follow directions: whether you’re putting something together or cooking, the routine helps train your brain
It’s all about empowering yourself by learning the tools you need for success. Little steps can make it easy. BTW - Another factor in their success; finding a coach to help them along the way… just like a Sensei! I'm going home to go organize my junk drawer! :)
