Your Body Is Like a Car?

We all know we “should” eat healthy, but do you know why? First, we must understand that food provides our body the nutrients it needs to function properly. This is the ultimate purpose of eating; the same way our car needs gas, oil and water to function.

If one of these is missing or not of adequate quality or quantity, your car won’t run as it should and may need extensive and costly repairs! This is a very simple concept when talking about cars, but it also applies to your body. We should give it the ‘fuel’ it needs. You wouldn't put soda in the gas tank or diesel in a car that takes unleaded, would you?

Our body is like the best car we'll ever own, but we hardly pay as much attention to its care as we do to our cars. Just think of all the routine maintenance appointments we need to keep for our car and compare that with doctor appointments. (I hope the guys are reading this).

The more we use or abuse our car, the more care it needs. The more “responsibly” we use our car and better care we take, the longer we can keep it running smoothly without any problems. Same thing applies for our bodies. If we abuse our bodies by eating too much, sleeping too little or eating a lot of empty calories (that our bodies get no nutrition from), our body will not be able to take us for a long pleasant ride. How far do you want to go?

To get your body to function like a well oiled machine, provide it with the nutrients it needs to function properly and efficiently. Once the engine is clean and running nice and smooth, then you can pimp your ride. But take care of the engine first!

So, fill up on colorful fruits and vegetables, whole grain products, beans and legumes, low fat dairy products, lean meat and poultry, healthy fats from nuts, seeds and good oils and drink plenty of water too! But do not overfill the tank!
